Quarter round molding comes in two basic shapes. You can buy a quarter round molding as a shoe molding, which is a little more oval shaped than a normal quarter round molding. Or you can buy a traditional quarter round molding, that is just a quarter circle molding.
Quarter round can be installed easily, cheaply and quickly. Around will protect your baseboards from vacuums, floor steam cleaners, and anything else that might move around at floor level and nick or damage your baseboards. It is important to paint quarter round molding the exact color of your existing baseboard so that it does not stand out as a separate piece of molding. However, if you are using quarter round molding to trim out a new floating floor, it is often used in the same color as the flooring as opposed to the existing baseboards.
This gets us into the second part or aspect of installing quarter round molding. When you install any laminate floating floor, you are required to install some kind of trim on the outter edges of the room in which it is installed in. Installing quarter round after the flooring is installed will ensure that your flooring will stay put. Simply apply pressure downwards to the quarter round as you are nailing it to the baseboards.
If you have freshly installed tile in your kitchen or bathroom, and do not like the way the cuts look against your baseboards, you can also install quarter round molding to cover up any errors or blemishes you do not like in your tile flooring. Remember, quarter round holding is a cheap easy way to dress up a room, and turned ordinary baseboards into something that looks elegant, unique and extraordinary.
